Scavenge Port Fouling – Major Faults in Main Engine (MC90V) Series
Lets look at some of the engine parameters first.
Observation:
- Low Pcom, indication of mechanical fault, low Pmax
- Higher exhaust temperature.
- Scavenge air flow less than other healthy units.
- Cylinder head temperature normal.
- Liner temperature normal.
- Piston ring conditiono normal
- Draw card indicates low Pcom, low Pmax
Conclusion:
- Above observations indicated scavenge air port faulty (partially chocked).
Note:
- Indications can be confusing, but
IF - exhaust v/v defective – cylinder head temp. high, air flow normal
